The 25th Annual General Body Meeting (AGM) and 7th Rashtriya Adhiveshan of Vijnana Bharati were held at Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi, on 12 June, and 13 & 14 June respectively.
The Rashtriya Adhiveshan was inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, who emphasised the importance of Indian science. He said science has been an integral part of Indian society from ancient times and made immense contribution. He said Indian farmers practiced innovative methods in agriculture and contributed to the country’s economic growth.
The resolution of Vijnana Bharati (VIBHA) released during the Adhiveshan asserted that Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) would be central to driving economic growth, societal well-being, technological self-reliance, and global competitiveness in order to achieve the goal of Viksit Bharat.

“VIBHA commends that the recent initiatives of the Government of India, including the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF), Research, Development and Innovation (RDI) Scheme, One Nation–One Subscription (ONOS) envisioned with the strengthening of Bharatiya journals and robust publication system, BioE3 Policy, and national missions in strategic areas such as Quantum Technologies with a focus on high end instrumentation manufacturing capabilities, Semiconductors and Artificial Intelligence are strengthening the country’s STI ecosystem. Complementing these efforts, NITI Aayog’s recommendations on ‘Ease of Doing Research’ have highlighted the need for a more enabling regulatory and administrative environment for research and innovation,” the resolution mentioned.
VIBHA has urged the government to formulate a comprehensive, Bharat- centric Science, Technology and Innovation policy, and VIBHA, with its vast grassroots network, would work tirelessly to translate this policy into ground-level action, ensuring inclusive, citizen-led participation across the nation. The inauguration ceremony was graced by Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s Prachar Pramukh, Sunil Ambekar, president of INSA and national president of VIBHA, Dr Shekhar Mande, BHU Vice Chancellor, Prof Ajit Kumar Chaturvedi, VIBHA’s national organising secretary, Dr Shiv Kumar Sharma, VIBHA secretary general PA Vivekananda Pai, former president, INSA and former secretary, DST, Prof Ashutosh Sharma, among many others.
