IN FOCUS: CSIR-NEIST, JORHAT CSIR-North East Institute of Science and Technology (the erstwhile Regional Research Laboratory, popularly known as CSIR-NEIST), the only premier national CSIR R&D institute in North East India (NEI), was established on 18 March 1961. In due course of time, two branch laboratories of CSIR-NEIST, viz., at Imphal in Manipur and Itanagar in Arunachal Pradesh were created to cater to the burgeoning needs and aspirations of the people of NEI.
